Objectives

  • Synthesis of oxide nanostructures - porous films (SnO2, ZnO, SnO2-ZnO, CuO and polymers) combined with copper-based nanorods, using chemical routes (sol-gel and hydrothermal methods) using porous alumina μ-chip substrates

  • Design and modelling of new porous alumina μ-chip substrates with lower energy consumption

  • Structural, morphological, optical and chemical characterization of the obtained nanostructured materials by specific analysis: X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Spectroscopic Ellipsometry in UV-VIS-NIR (SE) and IR (IRSE), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Hall electrical measurements

  • Design, fabrication and testing of the sensors deposited on porous alumina μ-chip substrates

  • Testing of the obtained films as gas sensors for CH4, O3, CO2 and humidity

  • Design, fabrication and testing of the sensors array
