OBJECTIVES

- Development of new medical activated and antibacterial protected products, devices (dental implants).
- Manufacturing technology by synthesis (melting in high vacuum, non-polluted) of a new high biocompatible titanium alloy (Ti-Zr) with good mechanical properties.
- Characterisation concerning composition, structure, mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and cyto-biocompatibility of the new alloy (scientific novelties).
- Activation of medical device surface using non-toxic solutions to obtain a structure with a porous, regular morphology able to promote the bone cell adhesion, proliferation and growth.
- Deposition of the antibacterial nanoparticles to assure a long life time for implants.
- Laboratory technologies for the activation and antibacterial protection of the new alloy surface.
- Complete and complex evaluation of the structural and functional characteristics (scientific novelties) of the new alloy with activated surface and antibacterial protected in correlation with bioactivity increase.
- Technology for the manufacturing of medical devices (dental implants) by mechanical processing of the new alloy.
- Test lot of implant with activated surface and antibacterial protected.
- Formation of an European core specialised in the implant obtaining, covering the whole process from the materials obtaining to their physical, chemical and biological testing.
- Valorisation of the research results by patent, publishing and communication of the novelty.
- Long term objective of this project is the obtaining of a new dental implant with activated, antibacterial protected surface against the biofilms formation with very good osseointegration and bioactivity, having a longer life time and assuring better health conditions for patients.  Natural resources will be saved by an efficient using of the raw materials due to the increased life duration of the new implant not being necessary its replacement.
